about

The debut album of the Private Instigators on Prize Fighter Records.

The Case Files of the Private Instigators Reopened is a thieves' dozen of the best punk doo wop songs you can find. From the pulse pounding Dion influenced opening track, "It Happened Last Night", to the wry wit of lead single "Too Pretty For Prison", through to the driving dance of closing track "The Doo Wop Song", the Privates grab you by, well, the privates, and don't let go. Many songs touch on some slightly taboo topics, such as the in your face accusation of "You're A Creep!" or the girl group influenced "Don't You Know My Love Is Free?", which discusses a foursome. But don't think it's a difficult listen; songs like the romantic rocker "You're The One" or the searingly sung "Baby Blue" feel both familiar and fresh and the same time.

Guitarist/backing vocalist Dominick, drummer Jeff, and bassist/lead singer Keith leave their greasy thumbprints everywhere you look. Dominick's raucous rhythm playing and spartan solos throughout the album almost feel like a hearty pat on the back from the barrel chested guitarist. Jeff's rock solid meter and musical drum lines propel the album and are especially highlighted on his standout track, the stuttering swinger "Lise The Tease." Meanwhile, Keith's bass and voice are full of growls, grunts, and grit, pulling you in and flirting enough to keep you interested till the last note.

about

Private Instigators Chicago, Illinois

They barged into the room like they owned the place. They were fast, loud, and rude, with something vaguely seedy about them.

They were the Private Instigators, and they were here to start something.
